Picture this: Post-war Singapore. Two movie companies, Shaw and Cathay, prolifically producing action, adventure, romance and comedy films. Relive Singapore’s golden age of cinema for one night only when you step onto the historic Shaw Studios lot in Jalan Ampas.
At our very special event, you'll take in the iconic, indeed nostalgic ambience of what was once known as the Hollywood of South East Asia while sipping wine courtesy of Through the Grapevine.
Jane will be on hand to give a short account of the history of Singapore's film industry . She will tell the story of a young aspiring actor named P. Ramlee who, at these very studios, made his mark as an actor, singer, songwriter, award-winning movie producer and director, and became Singapore's first big star and heartthrob.
After our cocktail hour, we'll hop aboard a chartered bus for a short ride to the super fun Vagabond Club, situated between sultry Kampong Glam and lively Little India, where the owners have reserved a space especially for Jane’s curated film screening which will feature a fun Singapore film of more recent years.
We are offering Early Bird tickets until May 25th, regular price after that. Please note there are 2 options - with or without alcohol, each ticket includes 2 drinks at the studios and 1 at the movie screening.
But do book early as this is a very special event and we expect it to sell out quickly.
Off the Beaten Track
We pride ourselves in offering out of the ordinary tours (some walking, some by bus, some a mix!) and other events with an emphasis on the heritage, history, and culture of our "little red dot" of an island. We have a wonderfully professional, committed team who work hard to ensure that the interesting parts of our small but magical island are introduced to residents and visitors alike.
