Tuesday Small-Group Discovery Walk: The Colours of Chinatown
This walk will weave in visits to the diverse houses of worship on South Bridge Rd, one of Singapore’s “harmony” streets, also home to goldsmiths, herbalists and more. Plus we'll wend our way through the heart of Chinatown to see old shophouses, a former Cantonese opera theatre, a traditional wet market, and the famous Buddha Tooth temple.
You'll hear the sad tales of Sago Lane, the tough life of Singapore's hard working coolies, and find out about early Singapore's"underbelly" — secret societies, houses of ill repute, and opium dens.
After our last stop at the City Gallery — where you'll learn about our city planning, past present and future — your guide will drop you off at the ever popular Maxwell Food Centre for discoveries of the edible variety !
Happy guests on past Tuesday Walking Tours are saying…….
“I have been on many of Jane’s Tours, they are informative, fun, fascinating, just a true pleasure to spend time discovering this wonderful island. I’m always looking out for the next one.“
“I particularly love the Tuesday walks exploring the different distinct areas of Singapore...including Tiong Bahru, Kampong Glam, Geylang and The Botanic Gardens to name a few. Jane and her team are knowledgeable without being over -facing; interesting in the telling of local stories and fun to be with. “
“Jane’s tours are always fascinating. She recruits such excellent tour guides. We saw several temples and renovated shop houses. The history, diversity and cultural heritage of Singapore is so extensive and celebrated in these unique tours. Loved it thanks...”

Off the Beaten Track
We pride ourselves in offering out of the ordinary tours (some walking, some by bus, some a mix!) and other events with an emphasis on the heritage, history, and culture of our "little red dot" of an island. We have a wonderfully professional, committed team who work hard to ensure that the interesting parts of our small but magical island are introduced to residents and visitors alike.
