Bicentennial Tours: 200 Years of Makan in Spicy Singapore - 12 Sept Price $70 / ticket Add some spice to your Singapore life by joining this fun and enlightening tour that delves into the historical, trade, medicinal and, most importantly, culinary properties of the multitude of spices available here. We'll begin by exploring the spice and herb gardens as old as the hills of Fort Canning. Our magic carpet (OK bus!) will then whisk us to the Geylang Serai market to browse stalls selling herbs and ground spices where veteran stallholders will make you a fresh mixture of spices to take home. Stop by the old lady who whips up the most fragrant potpourri made with fresh flowers drizzled with rose water and then let your guide fetch you a warm batch of steamed Putu Piring — fluffy white pillowy cakes filled with smooth molasses and dipped in shredded coconut. Back on the coach and it's down to Little India to explore one of Singapore's most popular wet markets, Tekka. Discover little-known vegetables and how they are best eaten. Your second sampler stop will be here to try a delectable sweet meat. Finish the tour with a meal in Litte India made from all the spices you have been introduced to. You're a spice novice no longer :-). The meeting point of the tour will be at the entrance of the National Museum Singapore facing Fort Canning tour will end in Little India.
