Fascinating Tales of the Singapore River Price: S$75 / ticket Discover stories of the Singapore River and the people who lived, worked, and died along its banks shaping the Singapore we know today.   From the Orang Laut and their sacred stone through the ancient majesty of Temasek to the scores of trading ships and the multitude of immigrants looking to build a better life in the 19th century.   From the Fullerton hotel, which previously served as the colony's General Post Office, we sail up the river and listen to river tales. At Robertson Quay, our walk takes us to the Tan Si Chong Su Temple, which used to face the former river island of Pulau Saigon. Next it’s on to the Masjid Omar Kampong Melaka, the oldest mosque in Singapore, and then to the Thong Chai Medical Institution, where free medical treatment saved the lives of thousands of coolies.   After a short coffee break, we go to the River House, one of only two traditional Chinese houses remaining in Singapore. We check out the former canneries, ice house and godowns at Clarke Quay. Our stroll will take us past the magnificent colonial buildings and shophouses of Boat Quay, ending at Cavenagh Bridge—Singapore’s oldest bridge. Please note confirmation of this tour includes the exact meeting place and will be sent by email to all those registered about 24 hours in advance; this will be preceded by a Peatix message to all registered.  Happy guests on past Tuesday Walking Tours are saying……. “I have been on many of Jane’s Tours, they are informative, fun, fascinating, just a true pleasure to spend time discovering this wonderful island. I’m always looking out for the next one.“ “I particularly love the Tuesday walks exploring the different distinct areas of Tiong Bahru, Kampong Glam, Geylang and The Botanic Gardens to name a few. Jane and her team are knowledgeable without being over -facing; interesting in the telling of local stories and fun to be with. “ “Jane’s tours are always fascinating. She recruits such excellent tour guides. We saw several temples and renovated shop houses. The history, diversity and cultural heritage of Singapore is so extensive and celebrated in these unique tours. Loved it thanks...”

We pride ourselves in offering out of the ordinary tours (some walking, some by bus, some a mix!) and other events with an emphasis on the heritage, history, and culture of our "little red dot" of an island. We have a wonderfully professional, committed team who work hard to ensure that the interesting parts of our small but magical island are introduced to residents and visitors alike.
